Co-founders Tamara Howard and Angela Wollschlager began their careers in human services hoping to help make real change. They began noticing all of the barriers and broken systems in place that prevented change from taking place. The most important observation is that time is ever-changing, and so are people. To ensure that change is effective, they learned how important it is to have the ability to "Adaptt" to the changing needs of the community and the people. The women of Adaptt recognize that in order to create deep-rooted change, the work needs to be holistic. It is their commitment to assist the Greater Rochester Community with needs extending from health and wellness, education, mentorship, housing and beyond.
At Adaptt; Tamara, Angela and a powerful board of women who have lived experience, professionals who have worked in Human and Social Service fields and others who have held key positions; are working together to create a completely brand-new model of transitional living. Their plan is to give homeless and at-risk women and children the support, guidance, and love to empower them in achieving their own beautiful, unique, unlimited purpose.
More about us
Adaptt is an agency built on the premise that our community’s needs are ever changing. It is our responsibility as human service professionals and compassionate humans to create deep-rooted
systemic changes that fit the current needs. As Adaptt grows, we plan to address several at-risk areas
that affect the Greater Rochester area every day.
Adaptt recognizes that for people who come from cyclical and generational poverty, a strong foundation is needed. We currently have two initiatives to assist families in our community. Our name, Adaptt, stands for Angels Devoted to Achieving Purpose Through Teamwork. Our name is rooted in the belief that every human has dignity and purpose. Individuals adapt to survive, and as an organization, we must strive to adapt to the changing needs of people on their journeys. Our goal is not to push people into what we think is right for them, but to become their partners in helping them build their confidence and achieve the purpose they see for themselves.
Our two current initiatives are, Complete Family Care and Adaptt 100 Kids.
Complete family care provides resources, education, and products necessary for daily life - including food and nutrition, maintaining a safe and healthy home, budgeting and financial health, clothing and undergarments, and improved familial relationships.
Adaptt 100 Kids aims to assist 100 children in Rochester by providing a bed, bedding, undergarments, sneakers, fun and educational workshops, and more!
Our vision is to reduce cyclical poverty, drug relapse, and homelessness in our community, by creating an
environment that is more equitable, and sustainable. Our overall mission is to help the women and children who come through our program to empower themselves and assist them in discovering their passions and purpose.
